Elton John Blasts Dolce & Gabbana Over Anti-IVF Comments, Calls For Boycott

Dolce & Gabbana designers spoke out against in vitro fertilization and “gay adoption” in a recent interview, and Elton John is not pleased.

The singer – who has two sons with husband David Furnish – took to Instagram to blast Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana for their remarks to Italy’s Panorama magazine, which included slamming “chemical offspring” and “rented uteruses.”

“How dare you refer to my beautiful children as ‘synthetic,'” Elton captioned an old photo of the designers, posted on Sunday. “And shame on you for wagging your judgemental [sic] little fingers at IVF – a miracle that has allowed legions of loving people, both straight and gay, to fulfil their dream of having children.”

And the iconic singer didn’t stop there. He also blasted D&G’s designs and called for a boycott.

“Your archaic thinking is out of step with the times, just like your fashions,” he wrote. “I shall never wear Dolce and Gabbana ever again. #BoycottDolceGabbana.”

David Furnish echoed Elton’s sentiments by reposting his husband’s message on his own Instagram page as well.

Additionally, Ricky Martin (who had twin sons with the help of a surrogate) also criticized D&G on Twitter and joined the call to boycott.

In statement on Sunday,  Gabbana that “it was never our intention to judge other people’s choices,” according to the Associated Press, while Dolce stated he was expressing his view about family based on his experience, and that he is aware that other types of families are just as legitimate.
