Experts, Celebs Speak Out About JonBenet Case
John Mark Karr ? killer or liar?
There is no closure yet on the awful case, and Friday, there seems to be more questions than answers.
Just one day after Karr?s celebrated arrest, JonBenet Ramsey?s hometown newspaper says it all: ?Did he do it??
“What does everybody think about the validity of the suspect?? Access Hollywood?s Tim Vincent asked.
?All of a sudden, that’s up in the air,? ?The Early Show?s? Harry Smith told us. ?It’s, it’s really definitely in question.?
“Is this guy a guilty sicko or an innocent wacko?? NBC News correspondent Peter Alexander said. ?That’s what people want to know right now.”
Even JonBenet?s aunt, Paulette Davis ? who visited the child?s grave Thursday, isn?t sure.
?Not yet anyway, we have to find the killer, we have to find out whether or not this is the person,? Paulette said.
Friday morning on ?Good Morning America,? two FBI profilers examined the footage of Karr?s press conference in Thailand, where they pointed out Karr?s apparent lack of emotion, how he appeared unstable as if he was on drugs and the fact that he appeared to be wearing makeup.
Karr is expected to be extradited back to the U.S. this weekend. The 41-year-old is reportedly on suicide watch and after watching the media coverage from his Bangkok cell was not happy and wants to hold another news conference.
?I was with JonBenet when she died,? said Karr, during the first news conference.
MSNBC?s Dan Abrams, who?s covered the story for nearly a decade, revealed to Access Hollywood that he has five big questions regarding the case.
The first. Does Karr?s DNA match that found on the scene?
?There is no DNA match yet,? Dan said. ?They have taken DNA from Karr but haven’t gotten the results back.?
Number two: Did Karr really drug JonBenet before allegedly assaulting her?
?The problem? The autopsy report doesn’t say anything about drugs in her system,? Dan told us.
Number three: Did Karr know JonBenet?
?Karr talks about JonBenet as if he knew her well, he loved her,? Dan said. ?The problem there is that family members say he never lived in Colorado.
And on the night of the murder, Karr?s ex-wife claims he was in Alabama.
?There was a random demand of $118,000, that was within pennies of the amount of John Ramseys bonus that year,? Dan said.
And number five: Why wait almost 10 years to confess?
?He seems to be willing to tell authorities everything that he did, even in public, yet only ten years later ? there?s something unbelievable about that,? Dan told us.
But regardless of how things play out in this case, there is no question that Karr has done things that simply boggle the mind.
Celebrities gave Access Hollywood their reaction.
?It?s a tragic story,? Felicity Huffman said.
?If something ever happened to my child, and it wasn’t in my control, I would probably blame myself for the rest of my life because she is my responsibility,? Brandy told us.
Even if Karr is not guilty of JonBenet?s murder, he was charged with others and began a strange email correspondence with Michael Tracey, who produced the 2004 documentary, ?Who Killed The Pageant Queen??
Tracey is cautious about discussing the implications of emails from Karr that reportedly include statements like:
?I will tell you that I can understand people like Michael Jackson and feel sympathy when he suffers as he has.
I do think that he is sexually attracted to certain children but could never divulge this.?
For recognizing the seriousness of such bizarre exchanges, Tracey?s friend and ex-wife says he is a hero.
?Michael has an amazing capacity to sniff out what’s worth sniffing out,? Tracey?s ex-wife, Elizabeth Tracey, said.
Karr also reportedly emailed this:
?Sometimes little girls are closer to me than with their parents or any other person in their lives. When I refer to myself as JonBenet?s closest, maybe now you understand.?
Karr?s predilection for young girls began more than 20 years ago.
At 19, Karr married a 13-year-old girl after reportedly instructing her to lie about her age. She filed an annulment a year later citing that she was ?fearful for her life and safety.?
Four years later, Karr married a 16-year-old in Georgia, whom he stayed married to until 2001, when a restraining order was filed.
That was months after Karr was arrested on child pornography charges.
Karr?s ex-wife claims she was not aware of his Internet activities, and certainly not his propensity for ?kiddie porn.?
And when Karr was reportedly fired from a substitute teaching job, his ex claims Karr was told he ?had a tendency to be too affectionate with the children.?
