Jessica Alba: Talks Ape Skits & Breaking Teeth For ‘Good Luck Chuck’

She’s been a superhero in the “Fantastic Four” series, an exotic dancer in “Sin City” and a sexy, human mutant in “Dark Angel” but this past weekend fans got a chance to see the funny side of Jessica Alba in “Good Luck Chuck.”

According to the svelte brunette, it was a role that almost didn’t happen, if it weren’t for a stint she took, hosting an awards show for MTV.

“I’ve always wanted to do comedy,” Jessica explained during a recent visit to the Access Hollywood set. “That’s pretty much why I got into the business. I love making people laugh and entertaining. I really haven’t had a shot at doing it and I was asked to host the MTV Movie Awards and I knew if I was gonna do that show, I would be able to do skits with great comedians.”

Luckily for Alba, one of those skits paired her with a hairy ape — one King Kong. Dane Cook, who was looking for a funny female for ““Good Luck Chuck” saw it, and it helped secure her the role.

“That’s the one that Dane, after he saw that he realized I could do physical comedy and he wanted me to be in this movie,” she noted.

Moviegoers who caught “Good Luck Chuck” this past weekend, know the film has plenty of physical comedy. One love scene is more like a wrestling match. As it turns out, casting Alba in the role was a wise choice as her pedigreed friend choreographed that particular moment.

“My girlfriend helped choreograph ‘Mr. and Mrs. Smith,’ their love scene — Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, so I said let’s do a comedic version of that. So we choreographed this like crazy intense makeout session and in the process Dane and I got a little overzealous,” Alba explained.

In a push to give the scene their all, Alba chipped a tooth.

“Yeah it’s fake,” Alba noted of her new mouth member. “And I was like, wow, and there was dust in my mouth — tooth dust. When you chip a tooth, you get tooth dust.”

Despite the damage to her pearly whites, Alba was still recently voted the celebrity Yahoo personal users would most like to date.

“Really?” she asked after learning the news. “I’ve never heard this before. Oh wow!”
