Joseph Gordon-Levitt Announces Brother’s Death On Twitter
”(500) Days of Summer” and “Inception” star Joseph Gordon-Levitt announced the death of his brother, Dan Gordon-Levitt, on Twitter on Tuesday.
“My super hero brother @burningdan 1974-2010,” the actor Tweeted on Tuesday night, followed by a link to his website with more information about his late brother, who was known as “Burning Dan.”
“BURNING dAN brightly embodied that bold beastly bliss sometimes referred to as ‘the creative spirit’… and continues to inspire us ever the more. He would absolutely positively insist that we not let this bad news deter us on our collective mission. That said, I might not feel up to it for a little while,” the actor wrote, adding, “Let’s celebrate him, he’s f***ing awesome.”
Joseph did not announce the cause of Dan’s death. Dan’s Twitter bio described him as “a Flow Arts teacher, photographer and pyrophilic swashbuckler bent on saving the world with panache.”
The Gordon-Levitt brothers were partners in HitRECord.org, a website which enables artists and filmmakers to post their work and connect with others in their industry for commercial use. The siblings attended the Sundance Film Festival together in January to promote their site.
Dan posted a photo of himself and his younger cousin, Addie, on Twitter on Monday. To see a video of Dan, who was a regular at the annual Burning Man Festival in Nevada, fire dancing, CLICK HERE.
The cause of death is not known. A rep for Joseph was not immediately available for comment when contacted by Access Hollywood.
