Kerry Washington’s Must-See TV

When Kerry Washington isn’t busy fixing Washington, D.C. as Olivia Pope on “Scandal,” she finds time to watch some of her favorite TV shows.

“I love ‘How To Get Away With Murder.’ I love ‘Grey’s Anatomy.’ I got to hold it down for my ‘Thank God It’s Thursday.’ Those are shows I love,” she told Access Hollywood of her fellow Shondaland series. “I also really love ‘Game of Thrones.’ There’s a lot of fun sexuality on that show of all kinds… I think those are my biggies.”

Kerry said she hasn’t yet had the chance to see the season finale of “Empire,” and she’s being cautious to avoid spoilers.

“I’m a huge ‘Empire’ fan,” she said. “I haven’t watched [the finale]. I have had to stay off social media because we’ve had a really intense week of shooting and actually Debbie Allen who directed the season finale is directing our current episode and I was like, ‘Don’t talk to me. Don’t talk to me.'”

The actress received the Vanguard Award at the GLAAD Media Awards on Saturday night.

“I feel honored to be considered an ally of this community. I think GLAAD is such an important organization and so I’m thrilled to be here,” she said on the red carpet, adding, “I was honored and thrilled and a little flummoxed. I feel like I’m going to spend the rest of my career trying to earn this award.”

Her acceptance speech earned her a standing ovation from the audience. Soon after coming off the stage, Access‘ Shaun Robinson briefly spoke to her backstage.

“So nervous, so nervous, but so honored. Thank you,” Kerry said of the reception she received.

Ellen DeGeneres – whose wife Portia de Rossi co-stars with Kerry on “Scandal” – presented the award to the actress.

“There are a lot of people who fight very hard for all of us to have equal rights and people are here that should be celebrated and given awards which is why we’re here to give Kerry an award and celebrate everybody else,” the talk show host said of the evening’s festivities.
