Lea Thompson’s Emotional ‘Dancing’ Exit: The Judges Were ‘Very Hard On Us’

Lea Thompson got booted from “Dancing with the Stars” on Monday night, and the actress was overwhelmed by the elimination.

Following the show, Access Hollywood’s Shaun Robinson caught up with Lea, where she tearfully spoke about her pro partner, Artem Chigvintsev.

“It’s just a lot… but it is a really strong bond that you build with someone,” Lea told Shaun.

The actress feels the “DWTS” judges were harder on the pair than usual in recent weeks.

“We’ve been through a lot of hard times. They were very hard on us,” she said, becoming visibly emotional. “The judges, for the last four weeks, or five weeks – ever since we did the switch – it was like a nightmare. So we’ve been through a lot.”

The ballroom tribulations brought Lea and Artem closer.

“That makes for a hard time between us – like us against the world in a weird way,” she said.

And Lea said she has always been against reality TV, but loved dancing too much to turn down the show.

“Reality TV is something that I didn’t really ever want to do… but the dancing lures you to it. I’m an actress, a real actress. You don’t do reality TV,” she said. “But the dancing lures us into it because it’s so fun.”

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Lea and Artem were cut from the competition, leaving Tommy Chong and Peta Murgatroyd, Janel Parrish and Val Chmerkovskiy, Bethany Mota and Derek Hough, Alfonso Ribeiro and Witney Carson, and Sadie Robertson and Mark Ballas still in the Season 19 game.
