Dish of Salt: Tuesday TV Round Up (CBS Pulls ‘Three Rivers’)

“Three Rivers” Shelved
CBS confirms they have pulled the plug, for now, on the freshman drama “Three Rivers” which starred Alex O’Loughlin as a transplant surgeon in a Pittsburgh hospital. “NCIS: Los Angeles” will replace it on Sunday nights starting December 6. CBS says the freshman drama will remain in production on the original order of 13 episodes but that no decision has been made about its future. The show was averaging around 8.4 million viewers. I’m only sad because the show is set in my hometown and I love anything that showcases Pittsburgh in a good light.

“Dancing With the Stars” Tour Scrapped
Pro dancer Louis Van Amstel took to his Facebook page to confirm for his fans that the “Dancing With The Stars” winter tour will not take place. “Shame, Kelly n I were both looking forward to a tour!,” he wrote. Last year’s tour featured celebrity dancers Toni Braxton, Marlee Matlin, Maurice Green and Lance Bass. From what I have heard, it sounds like everyone’s schedules were too busy this year to accommodate a tour. I hope they don’t do away with it altogether though. I went with a friend to the Staples Center last year and it was a spectacular show… way better than watching a taping of the actual show.

“Scrubs” Returns
Like a cat that has nine lives, “Scrubs” keeps on living. After being axed by NBC last year, ABC picked it up. And despite less than stellar ratings the show continues on. Tonight the show enters its ninth season. Zach Braff is back as Dr. JD Dorian but is not signed on for the full season. JD left Sacred Heart hospital at the end of last season and is now working as a med school professor, which gives us several new faces on the show, including James Franco’s brother Dave.

Stealing Victoria’s Secret
Heidi Klum hosts the annual parade of scantily clad models tonight on CBS. Heidi herself took to the catwalk just five weeks after giving birth, and, as usual, looks phenomenal. Supermodel Marissa Miller was the lucky lady chosen to wear the show stopping three million dollar bra. Fergie and the Black Eyed Peas perform. In a related story (which made me laugh) KETV in Nebraska reports that police in Omaha are looking for two people who stole more than 100 bras, worth around $5,000, from a Victoria’s Secret store in the Westroads Mall. Those angels tonight on the runway better watch their bra straps!

“True Blood’s” New Blood
Sam Merlotte is getting a brother. HBO confirms Marshall Allman, who was a series regular on “Prison Break,” will join “True Blood” as a regular for the upcoming third season. Allman will play Tommy Mickens, Sam’s long-lost brother who works at a Tire Depot in Arkansas. Now the question is – will he be a shape-shifter too?
