Madonna’s Neighbor Sues Over Noise
Madonna might have said that music makes the people come together – but maybe not so much if you’re her neighbor.
According to a lawsuit filed Friday and obtained by Access Hollywood, Karen George, who lives above Madonna in New York City in a building on Central Park West, is suing her co-op and the building’s management company due to Madonna’s alleged loud music.

“The apartment directly below Ms. George’s is owned and occupied by Madonna Ciccone (“Madonna”), who regularly uses her residential apartment as a dance rehearsal studio with others,” the lawsuit said. “Despite Ms. George’s repeated complaints over the past seventeen months to the defendants concerning this situation, the pounding noise and vibration continues to emanate from Madonna’s apartment, and Ms. George has been forced to endure substantial interference with her tenancy by virtue of defendants’ failure to fulfill their obligations.”
After alleged repeated complaints, the board told George they would address the issue with Madonna, but George claims the noise has continued, allegedly at times lasting up to three hours.
George did not specify the amount of damages she is seeking for disruption, but said she believes it, “to be not less than the amount equal to the maintenance she has paid to the Corporation since 2008.”
According to Associated Press, the board has already threatened to evict Madonna.
A rep for Madonna had no comment about the lawsuit when contacted by Access Hollywood.
