FROM THE NEWS DESK: Anna’s Final Resting Place
by McKay Heim and George Larrimore
SWIFT JUSTICE: Just like that, a three judge panel in West Palm Beach today Got It Done, and ruled that Anna Nicole Smith can be buried in the Bahamas, next to her son Daniel. It looked like the Supreme Court compared with the comic chaos of Judge Seidlin’s court last week. The panel heard only about an hour of argument this morning before rendering the decision.
THE CAMERA LOVES VIRGIE: For a small town cop from Texas, Virgie Arthur seems to have her late daughter’s natural flair for working the camera. In court in West Palm Beach this morning Virgie held a bright red rose in one hand, along with a handwritten note reminding everyone out there in TV land that she had raised the former Vickie Lynn Hogan. And the courtroom camera, of course, went right for it.
ANS DEATH CERTIFICATE: Made official in Broward County today. In it Howard K. Stern identified himself as ‘Nominated Executor,’ and not boyfriend or attorney. Also notes she fell under the educational category of 8th grade or less.
STILL TO COME: Meanwhile, the Broward County Medical Examiner’s office tells Access Hollywood the results of the toxicology tests on ANS should come back within the time frame originally set by ME Dr. Joshua Perper. He initially said 3-5 weeks and now his office says results look for this potential bombshell to come the “latter part of that.” The autopsy/toxicology screens are wide-ranging and will answer the question whether she suffered from a potentially lethal illness as has been rumored over the past few days.
CATCH AND RELEASE: Our Release of the Day has an Anna Nicole hook too. It plugs the movie ‘Illegal Aliens,’ which has its World Premier at the Cannes Film Market in May. Here’s part of their synopsis: ” ‘Charlie’s Angels’ goes sci-fi with a touch of ‘Men In Black’ thrown in for good measure, when three aliens morph into super-hot babes and arrive to protect the earth from the intergalactic forces of evil.” Wow. I guess Anna Nicole is one of the Hot Babes. Release also calls this Anna Nicole’s “latest feature film.”
TAKE A HIKE! Paris, stopped late last night in Los Angeles driving her big Bentley convertible. Sheriff’s Deputies with a good memory looked in their computer and found that The Heiress wasn’t supposed to be driving because of an alcohol-related reckless driving conviction. Her license was in fact suspended. They put the car on a flatbed and Paris walked, that’s right walked, away to party the rest of the night away, dragging a tail of paparazzi along behind her. And now it appears that she could face up to 90 days in jail on what was apparently a violation of her probation. By the way; various media reports placed value of the Bentley at either $190,000 or $260,000. Our I-Team investigators will get to the bottom of that.
CENSORED: The Big Blue Buses of Santa Monica. Bus ads for the new season of “America’s Next Top Model” have been vetoed by The Office of Transit Services in the city that’s sometimes referred to as The People’s Republic of Santa Monica. Those ads show host Tyra Banks and contestants posing in swimsuits in front of a waterfall. According to the city there were complaints from people who feared the city might be endorsing a show that is disrespectful to women. We were wondering if it’s OK with the City of Santa Monica if Santa Monicans watch the show ( tonight on CW) if they should want to? By the way, the city has vetoed other bus ads before including those for the FX series “Nip/Tuck.” Presumably because it is dispectful of people who have had plastic surgery, which would presumably be a lot of people in Santa Monica.
