On The Download: Maroon 5’s ‘Misery’

The wait is finally over! Grammy-award winning supergroup Maroon 5 has just released “Misery,” the first single from their highly anticipated new album “Hands All Over.”

Don’t be fooled by the song’s title as “Misery” is an infectious, upbeat track with a catchy chorus led by Adam Levine’s signature falsetto. It seems the band believes in the “if it ain’t broken, don’t fix it” mantra as the track has similar vibes to two of their biggest hits, “This Love” and “If I Never See Your Face Again.”

Since 2002’s “Songs About Jane,” love, sex and relationships have been popular themes for Levine & Co. and “Misery” tells another one of their tales. Many will be able to relate to this track which digs into the agony of wanting someone really bad with lines like, “There ain’t no other who can comfort me/ Why won’t you answer me?/ Your silence is slowly killing me.”

The soulful quintet’s upcoming album was recorded in Switzerland and produced by the renowned Mutt Lange, who has made hits for an array of artists from AC/DC to Nickelback. Reportedly, the album even has a collaboration with country music’s it-group, Lady Antebellum.

Maroon 5 is set to go on a summer tour on July 30 and “Hands All Over” is set for release on September 21.
