‘HSM’s’ Zac Efron Joins ‘Hairspray’ Cast

?High School Musical?s? Zac Efron joins the cast of the movie remake of the Broadway musical ?Hairspray,? Variety reported.

?Hairspray? is slated for a summer 2007 release.

The teen star will play “Link,” the heartthrob of “The Corny Collins Show,” alongside Nicole Blonsky in the new interpretation, which also features performances from John Travolta, Queen Latifah and Brittany Snow, Variety reported.

Directed by Adam Shankman, rehearsals begin this summer.
