Conan O’Brien Recreates ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ Scene In Comic-Con Video

Conan O’Brien hit the “Fury Road” when taking his late-night show to San Diego for Comic-Con on Wednesday.

The host paid tribute to May’s smash “Mad Max” sequel with a full recreation of the dystopian flick’s most memorable sequence, and sidekick Andy Richter and the Basic Cable band were along for the ride.

Conan and his crew went “Mad” all right, hopping on their makeshift War Rig in full character regalia for their trip to the pop culture bonanza. Key props, including the Doof Warrior’s flame-throwing guitar and Immortan Joe’s disturbing face mask, gave the sketch impressive detail, and band leader Jimmy Vivino conducted a pounding drum arrangement to accompany Conan’s thrusting riffs.

But in true “Conan” fashion, of course, something had to go hilariously awry.

“The guitar is so loud, I can’t hear the GPS!” Andy complains, after spilling coffee on himself and leading the caravan off-track. The fact he tried to take a sip with his mask on also didn’t help.

“It’s so much fun, I get carried away,” Conan admits of his Doof Warrior routine, complete with harness and red onesie. The gang isn’t sidelined for long, though, as Andy commands the rig once again after a pep talk from his buddy — and a quick taste of chrome.

“Conan” will tape inside San Diego’s Spreckels Theater for the duration of the Con, signing off on July 12 before heading back to its regular studio in Los Angeles. Guests will include Elijah Wood, Chris Hardwick, and the casts of “Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2,” The Walking Dead” and “Game of Thrones.”
