Brad Pitt Dons Cap To Help New Orleans

Brad Pitt has always been a fashionable man about town, but recently he’s been spotted with a seemingly permanent accessory – a hat.

But as it turns out, there’s a good reason Brad has been capped lately – it’s all for a good cause.

Repeatedly seen donning the jaunty newsboy cap, Brad will be selling hats just like it to benefit his New Orleans “Make It Right” project.

Along with shirts and bags, all proceeds from the sale of the merchandise will be “allocated exclusively to building new ‘Make It Right’ homes,” according to the organization’s Web site.

In addition, all of the items were “selected by Brad and the MIR team to reflect the MIR mission,” which is to “offer forward-thinking green products.”

Earlier this month, Brad announced he was lending his support to the residents of New Orleans with his “Make It Right” project, aimed at rebuilding the Hurricane Katrina-devastated Lower Ninth Ward.

“I’m hoping we can start here and expand all over New Orleans,” Brad told Ann Curry as they toured the area on the “Today” show.

Besides lending his celebrity status, Brad has also given $5 million of his own money to the project.

Brad said he is counting on “foundations, individuals of means, church groups” to follow his lead and “help the families of New Orleans get back into their homes.”

He hopes the homes will be completed by summer 2008.
