‘Black Panther,’ Lady Gaga and More Make History With Golden Globe Nominations

The 2019 Golden Globe nominations were filled with record-breaking moments on Thursday. For starters, Wakanda really is forever and Lady Gaga as a movie star is perhaps our favorite thing ever.

This year “Black Panther” made history by becoming the first ever Marvel film to score a Golden Globe nomination in the Best Motion Picture Drama category. The Hollywood blockbuster, which starred Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyongo’o and more, slayed the box office this year. The flick also scored two additional nominations for Best Score and Best Original Song.

Lady Gaga also could make it in the record books this year. If she wins for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture, Drama for her role as Ally in “A Star Is Born” she’d be the first singer to snag a win in that category.

There’s also a big moment happening for “Pose.” According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Pose” is the first almost all transgender cast to score a nomination.

And of course “Crazy Rich Asians” also is making headlines — the all Asian cast — scored some big nods from HFPA, starting with Best Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy and a nod for Constance Wu for Best Actress, Musical or Comedy.
