Heather Mills: $1,400 An Hour For McCartney Marriage
A British high court judge earlier today, granted charity campaigner Heather Mills $49 million in her split with Paul McCartney.
For anyone keeping score, that breaks down to $1,400 for each hour Mills was married to the former Beatle — or $33,600 per day during her marriage to McCartney.
By comparison, the average teacher in Alabama earns $40,347 a year according to the National Education Association. That means Mills would have earned more than half of an average Alabama teacher’s salary in just 24 hours.
As for higher earning jobs, such as Cher’s three-year gig with Live Nation, which includes a series of Las Vegas shows, the singer is pulling in a reported $60 million for the period. Cher then, will make $54,794 a day for the three-year period, earning the pop legend, $21,194 a day more than Mills’ daily average.
Mills, who has a daughter, Beatrice, with the former Beatle, was seeking at least $250 million from Sir Paul. He had offered $31.6 million.
A judge was forced to determine the settlement after the parties reached an impasse in the proceedings last month.
Mills had been representing herself in court.
“I’m so glad it’s over,” Mills said following the hearing earlier today in London, the UK’s Guardian newspaper reported. “It was an incredible result in the end to secure mine and Beatrice’s future and all the charities I plan on helping.”
McCartney did not comment on the ruling.
