Carlos Mencia To Host Creative Arts Emmy Awards
Comedian Carlos Mencia has been tapped to host the 2007 Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards, taking place at LA’s historical Shrine Auditorium on Saturday, September 8.
The Creative Arts Emmys are presented in 75 categories, including Outstanding Guest Actor/Actress in a Comedy Series, Outstanding Guest Actor/Actress in a Drama Series and Outstanding Reality Series. The Engineering Awards and the Interactive Media Awards will also be announced during this year’s show, along with the prestigious Governors Award.
The edgy star of Comedy Central’s “Mind of Mencia” is a perfect choice to host the Creative Arts show, according to longtime executive producer Spike Jones Jr.
“Carlos Mencia is poignant, provocative and damn funny,” said Jones in a statement. “As host of the Creative Arts Emmys, Carlos will keep everyone in the audience on the edge of his or her seat – especially the censor. We’re all thrilled to work with him and look forward to a great show.”
The show will air as a two-hour special on E! September 15 at 8:00 PM.
Along with his Comedy Central show and numerous comedy specials, Mencia will star in this fall’s Farrelly Brothers’ film, “The Heartbreak Kid,” opposite Ben Stiller and Michelle Monaghan. In addition, Mencia will headline a nationwide comedy tour titled “Carlos Mencia Live Presented by Bud Light.”
