Your Daily Dispatch of Celebrity Shenanigans: September 14, 2007 by Tommy Vergason
ANOTHER AWARDS SHOW?: An Emmy Awards show source told USMAGAZINE.COM that Fox is “in negotiations” with Britney Spears to make an appearance on Sunday’s telecast. “The idea is to have her come on and apologize for the VMAs,” the source reportedly said. “She’s weighing the offer.” A source close to Spears reportedly told US, “I can’t say this is 100 percent not true…[but] if she is doing anything for the Emmys then it’s not going through the official channels.”
CORRECTION: K-FED GETS ‘COZY’: An onlooker who told E! ONLINE’s MARC MALKIN that Kevin Federline was seen dancing with Traci Bingham last night was mistaken, as Malkin has noted in his column. The former star of “Baywatch” phoned Malkin today to assure him that she was not at Vice nightclub where she had been reported to be, but rather in Palm Desert recuperating from major leg surgery. “I’m on crutches,” Bingham told Malkin. “And last night I was in so much pain I was taking OxyContin, so there’s no way it was me.” Bingham had been scheduled to co-host the Financially Hung party, but didn’t want to be photographed hobbling around on crutches.
According to Malkin’s update, the woman believed to be Bingham turned out to be none other than Colin Farrell’s sex-tape co-star, Nicole Narain.
GENTLEMAN BRAD: Brad Pitt delighted the manager of NYC’s Patek Philippe boutique when he purchased a watch, THE NY DAILY NEWS’ RUSH & MOLLOY reports, but it was more than the purchase that endeared Pitt to the manager. “He is the most polite, well-mannered, unpretentious customer, and we have lots of celebrity clients,” he reportedly said. “He is a gentleman, ‘true and true.‘”
HOMETOWN HEROES: Matt Damon and Ben Affleck jetted to the African nation of Tanzania this week to observe human rights work being done there, the BOSTON HERALD reports. Meanwhile, Affleck & Damon are getting street corners named after them in their hometown of Cambridge, Massachusetts.
BROADWAY BOUND: Tori Spelling and husband Dean McDermott may be heading to Broadway, THE NY POST’s PAGE SIX reports. The couple has been offered starring roles in “Chicago” and “are currently in talks,” Spelling’s rep reportedly said.
EMINEM RETURNS: And finally, Eminem is working on his first studio album in three years, BILLBOARD reports. In an interview with Hot 97 radio, the rapper reportedly said, “For a while, I didn’t want to go back to the studio … I went through some personal things. I’m coming out of those personal things [and] it feels good.” The album’s release date is TBD.
