Betty White ‘Thrilled’ By Emmy Nomination For ‘Saturday Night Live’
After 16 Primetime Emmy nominations and four wins across her career, Betty White was still “thrilled” with her nod for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for her hilarious work as host of “Saturday Night Live” earlier this year.
“It’s a lovely day. Let’s put it that way. We’re so thrilled. We’ve got four Emmy nominees on the show,” Betty told Access Hollywood’s Maria Menounos on Thursday following the 2010 Emmy nominations, referring to her “Hot in Cleveland” co-stars.
If Betty bests her competition, which includes Tina Fey, also for hosting “Saturday Night Live” and Kristin Chenoweth for her role on “Glee,” the 88-year-old actress will become the oldest Emmy winner ever – something Betty says she’s used to being.
“Whatever happens to me I’m the oldest. I’m the oldest whatever you want to call it. So, it doesn’t matter,” she told Maria. “With Tina Fey in there [and] with those other girls… we don’t count on winning… To be in that group when the awards come along, I mean, that’s great… But to get this nomination, I’d love to be coy [about it]. I can’t. I’m thrilled!”
Betty was also thrilled when Maria told her that a donation in honor of her Emmy nomination had been made to the Morris Animal Foundation, which the longtime animal lover has worked with over the years.
“Please know how much that means. That really means a lot and I promise you every penny of that will go to make life better and longer,” Betty said. “We are a health organization that funds humane studies in specific health problems in dogs, cats, horse and zoo and wildlife. Thank you thank you, thank you!”
The 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards, hosted by Jimmy Fallon, will air live at 5 PM PT on August 29 on NBC.
