‘Happy Feet’ Dances To #1 At Box Office Again
LOS ANGELES (November 26, 2006) — This Thanksgiving weekend, the most popular birds in the country may be those dancing penguins from the movie “Happy Feet.”
Studio estimates show the animated romp was the top box-office draw, bringing in nearly 38 million dollars.
Holding at second-place was the James Bond movie “Casino Royale,” which earned 31 million.
The Denzel Washington thriller “Deja Vu” led new movies this weekend, bringing in just over 20 million dollars since Friday.
At number four was “Deck the Halls,” with Matthew Broderick and Danny DeVito. The comedy debuted with a 12 million-dollar weekend.
Rounding out the top five was “Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan.” The spoof brought in 10.4 million dollars.
Estimated ticket sales for Friday through Sunday at U.S. and Canadian theaters, according to Exhibitor Relations Co.
