Levi Johnston’s Sister: Mom ‘Very Upset’ Over Engagement To Bristol Palin

Sherry Johnston shed tears when she learned that her son, Levi Johnston, was getting engaged to on-off girlfriend Bristol Palin.

However, they weren’t tears of joy.

In a blog entry titled “Who needs coffee when you wake up to find news this shocking,” Levi’s younger sister, Mercede, described her family’s outrage at having to find out about Levi’s upcoming nuptials from a magazine.

Mercede, 18, recounted how she woke up on Wednesday to find her mother, Sherry, with her laptop and a “beautiful picture of Levi, Brisol, and Tripp on the cover of US Weekly.” The magazine had reported the news of the couple’s engagement that same day.

“I looked up to see that my mom was upset, with tears running down her face, yet still trying to console my other family members who were texting her and sending messages via Facebook saying they were very upset that they had to find out about this engagement from the media and not from Levi himself. I sent a message telling them not to feel too badly since even his own mother and sister had to find out that way,” Mercede wrote.

Despite her family’s shock and dismay, Mercede took some time to reflect upon the situation and offer her brother some advice.

“I sure hope this is a sincere decision that you have thought through carefully Levi, and that it will bring you happiness,” she wrote.

Mercede also questioned the couple’s motives for getting married.

“I do wish you guys would take a little more time with this decision, and I certainly do not understand why you are rushing things. Unless of course there is some reason for the hurry,” she continued.

However, her brother’s big news isn’t Mercede’s only target in her blog, as she has often drawn criticism from Palin’s supporters ever since she started writing and answering questions about the Palin family on her blog in June.

In one entry, the teen claimed that Bristol had posted a message on her Facebook account, registered under a pseudonym, accusing Mercede of several falsehoods and for “seeking attention”.

She also claimed to have been pressured by her brother to remove her blog, or risk never seeing him or his son with Bristol, Tripp, again.

Nevertheless, it seems as though Mercede is willing to try and embrace the new member of her family, as she sees that the marriage will be beneficial to Tripp, Levi’s child with Bristol.

“I am also very happy to see Tripp in Levi’s arms again, and I do know that it will be good for him to have both of his parents back in his life full time from now on,” she wrote.

Mercede also congratulated her “soon to be sister-in-law and big brother,” and offers to help Bristol with the wedding preparations.

“Bristol, if you ever feel overwhelmed with all the decisions involved with planning a wedding I would love to offer you my help. I am a very good event planner, decorator, and I have great taste,” she wrote. “My mother would also like to congratulate her son and soon to be daughter in law, and she hopes to see more of both of you as you plan for your big day. And obviously would also be thrilled to help plan the wedding!”

However, given the families’ history, Mercede wondered if her family might be excluded from the wedding.

“I can’t wait to watch the two of you wed…I wouldn’t miss it for the world…We are going to be attending the wedding, right?” she questioned.
