Judge Grants Britney One Overnight Stay A Week With Sons
Britney Spears has been granted one overnight stay per week with her two sons, Access Hollywood has learned.
Although absent from the morning proceedings, Britney arrived to the court around 1:30 PM, wearing a long black top, blue jeans, sunglasses, and was carrying a white Versace purse and drinking a Coke.
Britney was sworn in and did testify before the court this afternoon. However, it’s unclear what she said as no media was allowed inside the court room.
Kevin Federline was not present during today’s hearings.
Earlier in the day, attorneys for Britney had filed a motion requesting extended visitation privileges for the pop star, including overnight stays with her two boys – Sean Preston and Jayden James.
Prior to today’s decision, the custody ruling only allowed Britney to have monitored visitation with her kids during the day.
One of the solutions offered by Britney’s camp was to allow her mother, Lynne, to act as the official monitor.
According to Kevin’s attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, the monitor will remain a court-appointed monitor. However, he could not confirm if Lynne would qualify.
Today’s ruling appears to be a compromise between Britney and Kevin’s sides. While Britney was hoping for more than once a week, Kevin was reportedly seeking to prevent any overnight stays.
On Wednesday night, Federline’s attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan released a statement to Access Hollywood upon hearing both sides would be headed to court today.
“The fact that a party, one week after a full court hearing, attempts to change the orders of the court, in the absence of an emergency or without any new facts, suggests a continued lack of respect and understanding for what an order of the court actually means,” the statement read.
