Charlie Sheen Pleads Guilty To Misdemeanor In Domestic Abuse Case
Charlie Sheen has plead guilty to a misdemeanor count of third degree assault in Aspen, Colo., stemming from his arrest on Christmas, following a dispute with wife, Brooke Mueller.
The actor, through his attorneys, reached a plea deal with prosecutors. The deal includes a 30-day jail sentence, but that sentence will be suspended after Sheen completes a 30-day treatment program at Promises, a rehab facility in Malibu, Calif. He has 30 days from the date of sentencing (August 2), to report to rehab.
According to TMZ, the “Two and a Half Men” star has already spent time at the facility and that time is expected to count toward his 30-day sentence. Sources told TMZ that Sheen will check into Promises on August 23 and “immediately leave.”
Access Hollywood has learned that Sheen’s sentence also includes three months of unsupervised probation. Finally, he must complete 36 hours of domestic violence treatment counseling.
“I’m very grateful to the court and to the people of Pitkin County,” Sheen said in a statement to Access on Monday. “I look forward to complying with the court’s decision, getting on with my life and putting this behind me.”
