Roseanne Barr Tries To Correct Her ‘Karma’ With Nut Charity; Would ‘Never Hook Up’ With ‘Looney’ Charlie Sheen
Roseanne Barr purchased a large macadamia nut farm on the big island of Hawaii to try her hand at nut farming in 2007 (a move which will be chronicled on her new Lifetime reality show, “Roseanne’s Nuts”), but the former TV superstar says she has an ulterior motive when it comes to harvesting the tasty island treats: securing her spot in the great beyond.
“I’m trying to get a nut business together because I want to do a Paul Newman kind of thing where you create jobs and give all of the money to a good [cause],” Roseanne told Access Hollywood at a promotional appearance for “Roseanne’s Nuts” in New York City on Wednesday, referring to the late actor’s Newman’s Own corporation (which donates 100 percent of its after-taxes food product profits to charity). “I don’t really need any more money, thank God, but I want to do something good.
“I’m trying not to go to hell,” she continued. “So I’m like, trying to get my karma good.”
While Roseanne may be new to farming, she’s developed a tried and true rule when it comes to keeping or scrapping a fledgling business – a rule that was birthed from the actress/comedienne’s personal experience with failed marriages.
“If it’s not cool in a year, I’m outta there,” she told Access, of how she decides to lose or keep a business (or marriage!). “That’s the thing about me – I’m never getting married again.
“I’ve made the mistake of getting married three times, but I really corrected the mistake because I also got divorced three times,” she continued. “I think that [divorce] was a good choice each time.”
Though she has pledged not to remarry, the former “Roseanne” star admitted she has a “nice boyfriend.”
And, as “Roseanne” holds the title of “original domestic goddess” from her near-decade playing Roseanne Thomas, we had to ask if she’d ever considered becoming one of Charlie Sheen’s “goddesses.”
“He’s not paying enough,” Roseanne responded. “I would never hook up with Charlie Sheen – he’s looney!
“I’m kidding. As if I’m not!” she added with a laugh.
“Roseanne’s Nuts” premieres Wednesday at 9 PM on Lifetime.
