Lindsay Lohan Ordered To Wear Alcohol Monitoring Device, Will Undergo Random Drug Testing

Lindsay Lohan finally had her day in court on Monday morning after missing her first appearance last week. The starlet was ordered to begin wearing a SCRAM ankle bracelet – used to monitor alcohol intake – and attend alcohol education classes once a week. The 23-year-old actress will also be subject to random drug testing.

In court, Judge Marsha Revel – who cut her vacation short to preside over today’s hearing – described the new terms of Lindsay’s probation, telling the actress, “Those conditions were and are going to be, subject to hearing from counsel, the following: that she will, as a condition of remaining out of bond, drink no alcohol, have a SCRAM device put on within 24 hours of today’s proceedings, submit to random drug testing at the rate of one per week, and I would give you, Ms. Holley [Lindsay’s attorney Shawn Chapman Holley], the number that she needs to call today to set that up. She must attend all of her alcohol classes as scheduled unless the class interferes with a random drug test, the random drug test will take priority… And those will be the conditions.”

Lindsay’s attorney addressed the judge, saying, “First of all, I want the court to know that Miss Lohan intends to comply with all the court’s orders and directives. Your honor made clear last week that actions speak louder than words ands she is prepared to demonstrate by actions that she is in compliance with all of the court’s conditions of bail and of probation. In that regard, she has already made arrangements to begin attending the alcohol program more than weekly, in fact she’d like to attend and plans to attend daily.”

Her attorney went on to say that the SCRAM device would interfere with the starlet filming a movie in Texas, but the judge said she would have to delay shooting the film “because that would prevent her complying with the court’s order” and told the actress to attend classes once a week in order to “get more out of it.”

The judge reiterated Lindsay’s new terms of probation saying, “Failure to show for random drug testing is the same as a dirty test to the court. And that’s going to be once a week and the court wishes to be notified immediately from the probation officer if there is a missed test or if there is a positive test.

“You are to attend all scheduled alcohol classes at the rate of one a week. The only excuse for rescheduling an alcohol class will be if you were notified you had to show up for random testing,” Judge Revel continued. “The random testing will supersede the alcohol program and then you can reschedule for the alcohol program.”

The judge then asked Lindsay if she understood and accepted the order, to which she replied, “Yes your honor.”

The District Attorney then asked to see Lindsay’s return plan ticket from France, which her lawyer said she had a copy of and it shows that she intended to return on May 19 for the first scheduled hearing.

The judge set a formal violation hearing for July 6 at 8:30 AM.

Following the hearing, Lohan was spotted leaving with the SCRAM bracelet attached to her ankle and activated.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Lindsay returned to Los Angeles on Saturday after making a last-minute trip to the Cannes Film Festival in France, to promote her upcoming Linda Lovelace biopic, “Inferno.” She said she missed Thursday’s hearing because her passport was stolen from her hotel room. Judge Revel issued a warrant for the star’s arrest, which was revoked after a $10,000 bail bond had been posted.
