James Franco: ‘I Would Be Very, Very Sad’ If Soaps Went Away
Actor, writer, student and sometimes-soap star James Franco wants network soap operas to live on!
Access Hollywood caught up with the star on Wednesday night at the 2nd Annual amfAR Inspiration Gala in New York, where he expressed his frustration about the dying soaps.
“I’m sad,” he told Access. “They’re just something that has always been around since I’ve been alive… I’m sad that it’s possible they won’t be there in the same way.”
Following the cancellations of “All My Children” and “One Life to Live,” only four soaps remain on the air: “The Young and the Restless” (CBS), “The Bold and the Beautiful” (CBS), “Days of Our Lives” (NBC) and “General Hospital” (ABC), which James has guest starred on.
”‘General Hospital,’ in particular, is full of people that I’m friends with,” he continued. “They’ve become collaborators, so I would be very, very sad if that suddenly didn’t exist any more.”
