Jon & Kate Take Vow Of Media Silence To ‘Focus’ On Family Needs

A week after filing divorce papers, Jon and Kate Gosselin have decided to stop airing their family’s problems through the media – at least for now.

In a statement posted on the TLC Web site, the “Jon & Kate Plus Eight” parents said they are no longer speaking to the media.

“During this very difficult time we will be working to focus solely on the needs of our family. This includes no longer commenting publicly or reacting to media stories and speculation,” the statement noted.

On the June 22 episode of the show, the highest-rated episode in TLC history with 10.6 million viewers, the couple announced they were separating. Two days later, official divorce papers were filed.

“Our goal is to do the very best for our children and that will be done as privately as possible. We appreciate the understanding, support and well wishes from so many. Thank you,” the statement continued.

Following the couple’s divorce announcement, TLC said the show would be going on hiatus until August 3 in order to give the family “time off to regroup.”
