Oscars Producer Talks Ellen, ‘Dreamgirls’ Snub
Now that we know which films have been nominated for Oscars, the producer can dive in and really start working on the show.
Just because “Dreamgirls” isn’t up for best picture, doesn’t mean Oscars producer Laura Ziskin won’t put the movie in the spotlight. She says “they got nominated in a lot of categories so they’ll be an integral part of the show.”
While she says she’s not sure how many song and dance numbers will be in the Oscars show this time, Ziskin says one thing we won’t see is Ellen DeGeneres matching Billy Crystal’s usual opening where he puts himself in
scenes from the movies.
She says she thinks “Billy owns that concept.” And, she says DeGeneres “wants to do her own thing.”
The Academy Awards are February 25th at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood.
