The Access Hollywood Week In Review

A celebrity in and out of jail. A starlet caught in some shocking photos. A controversial TV dismissal. And the end of an era. It’s all in the Access Hollywood Week In Review…

PARIS’ JAIL PARADE: There was a little extra buzz on the MTV Movie Awards red carpet on Sunday in Hollywood, and it wasn’t the award winners or the legions of movie stars causing all the excitement.

Just hours before she was to report to jail, Paris Hilton hit the red carpet one last time.

“I’m doing ok. I’m obviously a little scared right now,” she told Access Hollywood on the way in. “I’m scared, but I’m being strong and I’m ready to face my sentence, and I hope that this can be an example to other young people and the decisions they make — and use it as something positive.”

Though her appearance at the MTV Movie Awards was a surprise for many, Paris told Access that it was a last chance for her to do something fun before she had to buckle down and serve her time.

“I just, I love the Movie Awards,” she said. “It’s fun and I wanted to do something nice before I went off.”

In fact, the socialite made the most of her last weekend of freedom as she hit the gym, lunched with mom Kathy and sis Nicky and then went out for a final night of partying in Hollywood.

And then just hours after strolling the MTV red carpet in a strapless back dress, Paris traded her designer duds for a jail-issued jumpsuit, checking into the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood just after 11:30 p.m. on Sunday.

While she was expected to serve 23 days, this made-for-Hollywood tale took an unexpected turn as the heiress was released from jail after serving just five days, due to an undisclosed medical issue.

“I want to thank the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and staff of the Century Regional Detention Center for treating me fairly and professionally. I am going to serve the remaining 40 days of my sentence. I have learned a great deal from this ordeal and hope that others have learned from my mistakes,” Paris said in a statement released through her attorney.

But things didn’t end there. The day after her release, Paris was hauled back into court to face Judge Michael Sauer who ruled the Sheriff’s Department should not have released her.

“I at no time condoned the actions of the sheriff and at no time told him I approved the actions,” Sauer said. “At no time did I approve the defendant being released from custody to her home.”

After learning she was being re-incarcerated, Paris began shaking, screaming and crying. “It’s not right,” she cried out in court followed by cries for her mother Kathy Hilton.

Following the hearing, Paris was sent to LA’s Twin Towers in downtown Los Angeles where she is expected to remain in the medical ward at least for the weekend.

LINDSAY: CUTTING IT CLOSE: Not to be outdone, fellow embattled party gal Lindsay Lohan once again found herself in the news this week when some old photos surfaced of the now rehab-residing star.

In the pics, a red-eyed Lindsay is seen brandishing large knives, sticking them in her mouth and even holding one to the throat of pal Vanessa Minnillo in one of the shots.

Access learned the troubling shots were taken at a house party last summer, months before Lindsay’s first trip to rehab back in January 2007.

In other Lindsay news, apparently rehab isn’t going to stop her from enjoying her 21st birthday.

Access Hollywood learned that while her advisors are urging her to cancel the festivities, Lohan still plans to hold a birthday blowout to coincide with her July 2nd birthday.

Apparently, it’s her party and she’ll leave rehab if she wants to.

THE DOCTOR IS OUT: After a controversial season and months of speculation, ABC has confirmed Isaiah Washington will not be returning to “Grey’s Anatomy” next season.

After a getting a call from “Grey’s” boss Shonda Rhimes telling him he would not be back, Isaiah told Access Hollywood he was “mad as hell and I’m not going to take it anymore.”

Gay rights groups and cast member Katherine Heigl, publicly denounced Washington after his anti-gay slur towards cast mate T.R. Knight, which he later repeated during a post-Golden Globes press conference.

“This is something that will have changed the scope of his life,” Heigl told Entertainment Weekly last month. Washington was “sorry and embarrassed” for the mistake, she said.

Washington tried to make amends and said he was seeking therapy.

He also met with officials from the Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network and the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation and filmed a public service announcement in which he said “words have power” to hurt or heal.

The May finale of “Grey’s Anatomy” opened the door for the departure of his character. Burke was on the verge of marrying Dr. Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh), but her doubts at first delayed and then derailed their splashy wedding.

Later, Yang found that Burke cleared out his favorite possessions from their apartment.

‘OCEAN’S’ COMMOTION: After invading the Cannes Film Festival, the “Ocean’s Thirteen” clan brought the party back home for a bevy of U.S. premieres.

George, Matt, Brad and the rest of the gang hit Hollywood before taking the show on the road to Las Vegas and Chicago.

And while the guys made all the ladies swoon, as far as George Clooney is concerned, whoever gets stuck walking the line behind Brad Pitt gets a raw deal.

“It’s not fun,” Clooney joked with Access’ Billy Bush and Shaun Robinson at the Hollywood premiere. “You walk behind him [and] they’re like, ‘Geor . . Ooooh! Brad Pitt!’”

But while the gals are busy gawking over the boys, the “Ocean’s” gang also brought along a healthy dose of female eye candy with Angelina Jolie accompanying Brad on the red carpet, in addition to the newest member of the bunch, Ellen Barkin, the “cougar” of the group.

A “cougar” happens to be a slang term describing an older woman who prowls for younger men, but Barkin didn’t fully realize what she was signing on for when she accepted the role as Al Pacino’s right hand woman, Abigail Sponder.

“They didn’t tell me [about the ‘cougar’], of course,” the 53-year-old and still stunning Ellen told Access. “They just asked me if I’d like to be in the movie, and I said ‘yes.’ I didn’t even know that scene existed, because it did not exist in the script I read. It was something that, um, evolved.”

ANISTON’S MYSTERY MAN SOLVED: Last week, Jennifer Aniston was spotted canoodling with a handsome gent, but the only problem was, nobody knew who the lucky stranger was –until now.

According to PEOPLE magazine, the mystery man is 36-year-old British model Paul Sculfor, who has reportedly been dating the former “Friends” star for several weeks.

The two were first spotted together when they had what was called a “romantic dinner” at Santa Monica’s One Pico restaurant in the Shutters Hotel. They were reportedly seen talking intently for three hours, with Paul gently rubbing Jen’s back as they waited for a table.

Access Hollywood learned that Jennifer met Sculfor (a former boxer and bricklayer) in the company of her friend Courteney Cox at their favorite restaurant, Il Sole.

And of course, the important details — according to his modeling agency, Paul is six feet tall, has a 40-inch chest, a 33-inch waist, and light brown hair.

BOB SAYS GOODBYE: And lastly, a fond farewell to “The Price Is Right” host Bob Barker, who taped his final episode of the long-running game show on Wednesday.

The silver-haired icon officially began his retirement on Thursday after hosting the show for the last 35 years.

Fans traveled from across the country, and even slept on the sidewalks, all for a shot at being part of TV history.

“This is the chance of a lifetime,” said 24-year-old Philip Barrett of Tampa, Fla., who had camped outside the studios since Saturday.

Melanie Zepeda Velez, 32, traveled from Alberta, Canada.

“I’m here because I need to kiss Bob,” she said.

Barker’s final show is slated to air on June 15. His replacement has yet to be announced.
