‘Sesame Street’ Viewers Think Grover Dropped An F-Bomb & The Internet Is Obsessed
Move over, Laurel and Yanny. Grover from “Sesame Street” just ignited the internet’s latest viral debate.
Social media exploded on Friday over potentially NSFW dialogue from the beloved character, but did he really drop an F-bomb? Not so fast.
A recent clip from the long-running children’s show left viewers confounded, with many insisting that Grover said “that’s a f***ing excellent idea” to one of his muppet co-stars.
Grover is the best!!! I hear it both ways. But the “that’s a F’n excellent idea” is amazing. While “it sounds like an excellent idea” is what he really says. pic.twitter.com/9hOYde5460

However, others claimed to hear “that sounds like an excellent idea” instead, and a fervent deliberation ensued.
A sizable group of sharp-eared users also declared that they could switch back and forth between both versions, a phenomenon which apparently caused some FOMO.
“I only hear the f-bomb. Does that make me a bad person,” one Twitter user quipped.
The video made the rounds across multiple platforms, gaining thousands of views and comments along the way. But unlike previous auditory disputes, people on both sides seemed to agree there’s probably just one right answer.
“Sesame Street” has yet to set the record officially straight, but it’s highly unlikely that the kid-friendly icon would utter something undeniably R-rated.
Despite the continuing conversation about Grover’s cursing habits, at least one participant is still stuck on an earlier issue.
“I only hear Yanny,” one joker tweeted.
