‘Game Of Thrones Experience The Realm’ Returning To Comic-Con

The Seven Kingdoms of Westeros will march on Comic-Con next week.

HBO is bringing its “Game of Thrones Experience The Realm” to the annual San Diego event for another year, which means the Iron Throne is back and fans can claim the famous seat and pose for pics.

This year, the theme of the experience (located at the Omni Hotel in the Gas Lamp District) is inspired by Arya Stark and her early sword fight training (water dancing), and combines “part sword-handling skill and part artistic process,” per HBO, to create a “GoT”-esque self-portrait.

According to the network, fans start the experience by having their portrait taken. Then, they step in front of a projection screen that is 10 feet tall. Attendees will then use a replica of the wooden training sword Arya wielded (in Season 1, we assume) to strike targets. At the end of the task, fans get to take home an artistic portrait made up of their sword strikes. The portrait can be shared right away on social media.

More photo ops for fans include one where attendees can be “incinerated” to ash by Dany’s dragons (as a GIF), or turned into a frosty White Walker (also, as a GIF).

The Mountain’s (The Hound’s older brother) giant sword will also be available for photo ops.

Additionally, a host of costumes from the show will once again be displayed, as well as pieces from the “Game of Thrones Compendium” book. There’s also a limited-edition T-shirt from Robert Ball, who designs those Beautiful Death images.

“Game of Thrones Experience The Realm” is open 11 AM – 5 PM Thursday – Saturday and 9 AM – 12 PM on Sunday, July 12.
