Ian McKellen To Make ‘Full Recovery’ After Falling Off Stage During London Performance

Ian McKellen is on the mend after he fell while performing on stage in London on Monday night.

The 85-year-old theater and film actor took a fall during a production of “Player Kings” at the Noël Coward Theatre on the West End, reps for both Ian and the play confirmed in a statement to NBC News.

“Thank you to our audience and the general public for their well wishes following Ian’s fall during this evening’s performance of Player Kings,” the statement read. “Following a scan, the brilliant NHS team have assured us that he will make a speedy and full recovery and Ian is in good spirits.”

Per the statement, the team behind “Player Kings” has decided to cancel Tuesday’s performance “so that Ian can rest.”

According to the BBC, Ian was in the middle of a fight scene when he lost his footing and fell off the front of the stage.

Staff rushed to help, and the audience was evacuated from the theater and told the show had been canceled, per the outlet.

Ian has been starring as Falstaff in “Player Kings” at the Noël Coward Theatre since April.
