James Van Der Beek’s Gay Porn TSA Experience
The TSA took “Put your cheeks in a Beek” to a new level years before the phrased was coined on “B—- in Apartment 23”!
James Van Der Beek stopped by Access Hollywood Live on Wednesday, where he recounted a hilariously awkward moment with the TSA, thanks to a gay porn parody of his former hit show, “Dawson’s Creek.”
“Somebody as a gag gift hadn’t gotten me a VHS – that’s how long ago it was – copy of ‘Dawson’s Crack.’ Of course I loved it. With my sense of humor I thought, ‘This is amazing! I can’t wait to take this back to North Carolina and be like, ‘Guys, we’ve made it!'” he explained to Billy Bush and Kit Hoover. “It was right after September 11 [2001] when I was flying, so I get randomly flagged.
“They start going through my bags and not only is it sitting right on top of my clothes, it’s not just a gay porn – it’s a gay porn based on a show that I was actually in,” he continued.
Besides their ability to inspire a gay porn, the actor is proud of his “Dawson’s Creek” crew for other reasons – especially seeing Joshua Jackson presenting on the Golden Globes stage.
“That was cool! It’s just fun to see everybody, you know, not in jail, but actually doing very well for themselves,” he said with a laugh.
The actor now stars in CBS’ latest “CSI” branch, “CSI: Cyber.”
“I had just done a multi-camera comedy for CBS. They had aired like five episodes and didn’t renew it for the next season and I thought, ‘Man, forget CBS. They don’t get me – they’ clearly don’t,'” he recalled. “Then they offered me ‘CSI: Cyber’ and I went, ‘They what?! I LOVE CBS! So good to be back in the family.'”
Adding, “I honestly don’t know what possessed them, based on the comedy that I’d done, to straight up offer me the muscle on ‘CSI: Cyber,’ but I’m really glad they did.”
Catch James in “CSI: Cyber” (along with Oscar winner Patricia Arquette) tonight at 10 PM on CBS.
