Jen Tops Brad With All-Time Best Christmas Opening
Jennifer Aniston’s latest film beat out ex-husband Brad Pitt’s at the box office, scoring the all-time best Christmas Day opening.
Jen’s new romantic comedy, “Marley & Me,” based on the bestselling novel about a loveable but incorrigible Labrador Retriever, opened at all all-time Christmas No. 1 with $14.75 million in ticket sales, according to preliminary box office numbers. The previous record was held by “Ali” with $10.2 million.
Meanwhile Brad’s film “The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button” followed in second with $11.8 million.
Although Jen’s movie won the 100-yard dash of opening day, “Benjamin Button” will likely have more longevity on the long road towards Oscar night.
In third was Adam Sandler’s “Bedtime Stories” which earned $10.4 million in sales, followed by “Valkyrie” starring Tom Cruise with $8.5 million. Jim Carrey’s “Yes Man” rounded out the top 5 with $5.9 million.
