Jennifer Hudson & Family Set Up Foundation For Families Of Murder Victims

Less than a week after losing her mother, brother and nephew, Jennifer Hudson and her family have set up a new foundation for families who have lost someone due to violent crime.

Named in honor of her mother, Darnell Hudson Donerson, brother Jason Hudson and her nephew, Julian King, the Hudson-King Foundation for Families of Slain Victims will help support families who have been victimized.

“The specific purpose of the Foundation is to care for the needs of families who have lost relatives to a violent crime,” the family said in a statement, according to People. “This encompasses their basic needs of food, clothing and shelter as well as grief counseling.”

According to People, those who wish to donate can send contributions to:

The Hudson-King Foundation
c/o Abrams Garfinkel Margolis Bergson, LLP
Attn: William L. Abrams, Esq.

At a Wednesday night vigil where the foundation was announced, Reverend Jesse Jackson said the actress and her family “are overwhelmed by the suddenness and the unexpectedness of it all,” People reported. “This family knows triumph and they also know tragedy.”
