Jimmy Fallon Talks ‘Late Night’ Rap With Justin Timberlake: ‘There’s A Lot We Left Out’
Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake’s viral hit rap medley from Wednesday’s “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon” spanned several generations of hip hop artists — but it could have also included a slew of other songs.
“There’s a lot we left out,” Jimmy told Billy Bush and Kit Hoover on Access Hollywood Live on Friday. “We could have done Tone Loc, we could have done Das EFX, Fu-Schnickens… we tried to cover everything.”
Adding, “Outkast, we really tried to get them in there.”
The late night funnyman said the idea for the song was hatched following their cameos on last week’s “Saturday Night Live.”
“We just started hanging out in [Justin’s] dressing room after the show talking about what he’s going to do on our show… I had a ton of ideas and he said, ‘Maybe wanna do our favorite rap songs in two minutes?’” Jimmy explained.
Jimmy, who is no stranger to musical performances, admitted he was no match for Justin’s skills.
“I practiced over night, I practice in the day, between meetings, Justin came in, took him 10 minutes,” Jimmy told Billy and Kit.
As for the song’s instant viral success online – Jimmy is stoked.
“I’m so excited,” he told Billy and Kit.
