Did Kara DioGuardi Try To Quit ‘Idol’ Two Months Ago?
Kara DioGuardi spoke with Access Hollywood just a few weeks ago about looking forward to Season 10 of “American Idol,” but according to a source close to the star, she tried to quit the reality program earlier this summer.
A source told Access that Kara attempted to quit the show two months ago, confirming news first reported by E! News.
As it currently stands, the singer and Warner Bros. record company executive hasn’t received any word yet from FOX or Fremantle regarding her future on the show. The full “Idol” judging panel should be announced in the next few weeks.
Late last month, at the VH1 Do Something Awards in Los Angeles, Kara told Access she was looking forward to heading back behind the judges’ table to find new talent.
“I’m not getting butterflies as much as I was, but I’m sure there are thousands of kids who are getting them and I’m ready to find new talent and great talent,” she said. “I love to do that. I do that all year long whether it’s in my job at Warner Bros. or ‘American Idol.’ It’s exciting. It’s exciting to hear somebody that’s really talented that’s never gotten that shot.”
Just weeks later, several reports surfaced that Kara had been let go from the show, which began a flurry of rumors regarding a number of celebrity names being bandied about for the judging panel.
As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, a source confirmed to Access Hollywood that Aerosmith rocker Steven Tyler would join the show for Season 10 as a judge.
Early next month, the judges will meet the contestants for the first time in various cities across the U.S.
