‘Fantastic Four’ First Teaser Drops (Watch)

The trailer for the “Fantastic Four” reboot is finally here!

Featuring Kate Mara (Sue Storm/Invisible Woman), Michael B. Jordan (Johnny Storm/Human Torch), Miles Teller (Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic), and Jamie Bell (Ben Grimm/The Thing), the teaser for the Josh Trank-helmed movie is decidedly darker than the goofy 2005 film and its 2007 sequel.

“How did we get this far?” asks a slow, deep voiceover as the nearly-two-minute clip begins, opening with a shot of New York City. “Human beings have an immeasurable desire to discover. To invent. To build. Our future depends on these ideas.”

The majority of the teaser shows the group pre-powers-endowing space accident, with only quick glimpses of the Four in costume.

We see brief shots of Ben as The Thing and two shots of a flaming Johnny, as well as what seems to be a force-field (courtesy of Sue). Toward the end of the teaser, Reed punches something out of frame, and it appears his arm may be lengthening – though it’s not a clear stretch shot.

The clip closes with a shot of the Fantastic Four assembled, but we only see the group from behind as they stare at a mysterious beam of light/energy.

“Fantastic Four” will hit theaters on August 7.
