Aaron Tveit Cast As Danny Zuko In ‘Grease: Live’

Better dust off that leather jacket! “Grease: Live” has found its Danny Zuko.

“Graceland” star Aaron Tveit has been cast as the male lead in Fox’s televised update of the popular Broadway musical and 1978 film, Access Hollywood learned on Thursday.

“I’m thrilled and honored to be joining this incredibly talented team of actors in reimagining this classic and beloved musical,” Aaron said in a statement. “Playing Danny Zuko is a dream role and I can’t wait to be a part of all the fun that comes along with performing live on television.”

The former “Gossip Girl” actor will join previously confirmed co-stars Vanessa Hudgens and Keke Palmer at Rydell High. The ladies will portray resident bad girl Rizzo and Pink Lady cohort Marty, respectively, while Julianne Hough will star alongside Aaron as leading lady Sandy.

On Thursday, Fox also announced “Big Time Rush” alum Carlos PenaVega will play Danny’s tough-guy sidekick and Rizzo’s main squeeze Kenickie.

Aaron is no stranger to the theater, having starred in the stage version of “Catch Me If You Can” and the 2012 film adaptation of “Les Miserables,” in addition to appearing in “Wicked” and winning the Helen Hays award for Outstanding Supporting Performance in the off-Broadway production of “Next to Normal.”

His television credits also include guest spots on “The Good Wife,” “Ugly Betty” and “Law and Order: Special Victims Unit.”

“Grease: Live” will air on Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016 on Fox.
