Kelly Clarkson Talks ‘Awesome’ Motherhood: It’s ‘Changed My World’

Kelly Clarkson loves the latest chapter of her life as a wife and mother.

The singer, who gave birth to daughter River Rose in June 2014, says life as she knew it completely changed when her little girl was born.

“I never thought I was going to be a mom, so it’s very much changed my world in the most awesome way,” Kelly, 32, told People, adding that being a mom has given her “a certain level of peace” that she wasn’t expecting.

The singer – whose new album “Piece by Piece” will hit stores on March 3 – said having her own family has helped her process lingering pain she still felt after the divorce of her parents.

“My best friend always says, ‘You just want to create the family you never had.’ I might be doing that,” she told the mag. “In defense of my family, it happens. People fall out of love, and people go separate ways. People are human.”

Adding, “I’ve accomplished a lot, but I guess the biggest success I want is that whenever I die people will say, ‘She was so successful as a mother, and as a wife.’ That’s kind of my big goal.”

Kelly tied the knot with Brandon Blackstock, a talent manager, in October 2013.
