‘Spider-Man 3’ Misses Setting Another Box Office Record By One Day
The weekend isnt over, but the superstar team of Tobey Maguire, James Franco and Kirsten Dunst failed to help “Spider-Man 3” tie the box office record the previous installment achieved.
“Pirates of the Caribbean 2,” “Star Wars Ep. III,” and “Spider-Man 2,” took just eight days to cross the $200 million dollar mark. Despite having the biggest opening of all time, this third web slinging adventure swung a day behind at reaching the target taking nine days to net that amount. Nine days is also how long it took “Spider-Mans” first installment to make $200 million.
Fridays box office results showed “Spider-Man 3” brought in $17 million setting it miles apart from its box office competitors.
“28 Weeks Later,” netted just $3.9 million, while the Jane Fonda, Felicity Huffman, Lindsay Lohan vehicle “Georgia Rule,” pulled in just $1.9 million to date. Despite her highly publicized Letterman appearance and the massive campaign for “Georgia,” Lohans movie is not expected to make the top 10 film list when the weekend results are in.
