Madonna Falls Down Staircase On Stage At BRIT Awards

Madonna fell backwards down a staircase during a live performance on the BRIT Awards on Wednesday in London.

The “Material Girl” began her performance of her song “Living For Love” wearing a cape over her costume. She stood on top of a staircase when a backup dancer attempted to remove her cape, but the singer was instead pulled backwards down the stairs.

Just after singing the lyrics, “I let down my guard,” is when the tumble happened. The line to follow was ironically, “I fell into your arms.”

Madonna took a moment to compose herself before getting back up on her feet and resuming the song.

Madge explained the wardrobe malfunction that caused the mishap in an Instagram post shortly after her fall.

“Armani hooked me up! My beautiful cape was tied too tight! But nothing can stop me and love really lifted me up! Thanks for your good wishes! I’m fine! #livingforlove,” she captioned a photo of the sketch of her costume.

Some stars have Tweeted reactions to the tumble:
