Jada Pinkett Smith Confirms ‘Magic Mike XXL’ Role: I Can Handle ‘Beefcake’
Jada Pinkett Smith has confirmed she will star in the upcoming “Magic Mike” sequel, “Magic Mike XXL.”
In an interview with Queen Latifah on Monday, the “Gotham” actress said the rumors of her joining the Channing Tatum-led cast are true.
“You know, Channing and [director] Gregory [Jacobs] and Warner Bros. really took a chance,” Jada said. “There was a character written for a male that they wanted to turn into a female.”
Jada said she knows how to handle hot male talent, as she’s used to living with husband Will Smith.
“I’m used to being around beefcake like that because you know who I live with!” she said. “I’m used to that kind of beefcake-ness in my environment. I can handle it!”
The actress, who said she “can’t really reveal” much about her character, is rumored to be playing a strip club owner and said her role won’t involve stripping.
“[It’s] not one of those [characters]! … But I’m excited about it,” she said.
As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, last week, the sequel’s director revealed that Matthew McConaughey will not be returning for the second strip club movie.
“Magic Mike XXL,” which features Channing Tatum, Joe Manganiello and Matt Bomer, is slated for theatrical release on July 1, 2015.
