‘Transformers’ Enter The Super Bowl Fray

Optimus Prime and Megatron are headed to the Super Bowl.

The Transformers titans won’t, however, be teasing a fourth installment of the film, just yet.

Instead, the animated machines will appear in spots during NBC’s Super Bowl pre-game promoting the upcoming “Transformers: The Ride 3-D,” heading to Universal Studios Hollywood in May 2012 and the website PrepareForBattle.com.

The ride will offer a new “Transformers” story using original, photo-realistic 3-D-HD media, sophisticated special effects masterminded by Industrial Light & Magic, a division of Lucasfilms, Ltd., and an elaborate roaming flight simulator ride system.

The most recent installment of the film series – “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” – is the fourth highest grossing film of all time, globally.

In December, Vulture reported that Michael Bay was in final negotiations to come back and direct the fourth installment in the highly-successful film franchise.

Bay is reportedly currently working on “Pain and Gain,” a thriller.
