Martin Freeman Talks ‘SNL’ Hosting Nerves, Possible ‘Hobbit’ Star Cameos
He’s battled orcs and cavorted with dwarves in Middle-earth, but tonight, Martin Freeman will take on Studio 8H.
“The Hobbit: The Battle of The Five Armies” star is set to host “Saturday Night Live” this weekend – a new adventure for the Golden Globe-nominated star.
“I’m sure there’ll be nerves come that opening monologue,” Martin told Access Hollywood at his “SNL” rehearsal in New York City this week. “It’s like theater, but not exactly like theater. It’s a slightly different animal.”
The actor is happy to have some of the best in the comedy business by his side as he stands on the iconic stage.
“I’m learning it as I go along… I’m learning a little more every hour that I’m here, surrounded by very talented people who are helping me,” he said.
While he’s not professionally known as a comedian, the actor said he does enjoy making people laugh.
“I’ve never been a standup, I’ve never had that skill particularly,” he said. “I like being funny and I like doing sketches and stuff.”
Will we see any cameos from his “Hobbit” co-stars?
“They might hit me with something — I’m up for anything,” he told Access.
Catch Martin on “SNL” (with musical guest Charli XCX), Saturday at 11:30 PM on NBC.
