Melanie Oudin’s remarkable run at the U.S. Open may have come to an end on Wednesday – but the 17-year-old tennis phenom is now officially ready for her close up.
Fresh off her elimination, Oudin will hit the set of Rob Thomas’ new music video for a cameo, Access Hollywood has learned.
The video – shooting in New York City on Thursday — is for the single “Someday” off of Thomas’ new album, “Cradlesong.”
Oudin – who hails from Marietta, Ga., took the tennis world by storm, with an impressive and unexpected run all the way to the quarterfinals, until she was defeated by Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark on Wednesday night.
Still, after four straight wins, Oudin became the youngest quarterfinalist at the U.S. Open since Serena Williams in 1999.
Following her two-set loss on Wednesday, Oudin admitted the rush of becoming an overnight sensation was a lot to handle.
“These past two weeks have been really different for me — it was a lot,” she said after her match. “I’ve gone from being just a normal, like, tennis player to almost everyone in the United States knowing who I am now.”
And now the music world will get to know her to thanks to Thomas, who also sang the National Anthem during the opening ceremonies for the U.S. Open on August 31.
