‘Star Wars’ Prequel: Our Top 10 Picks For Han Solo
Another “Star Wars” prequel is on the way, but skeptical fans can rest easy knowing the latest origin story is flying “Solo” in good hands.
As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, intergalactic rascal and undeniable stud Han Solo is getting his own spinoff in an upcoming anthology film from the directors of “The Lego Movie” and “21 Jump Street.”
Speculation on which promising actor would best inhabit the original space cowboy is well underway, but Access Hollywood has rounded up its own top 10 list of potential Hans:

Jack O’Connell
The 24-year-old Brit earned raves for his performance as decorated WWII vet and Japanese POW Louis Zamperini in director Angelina Jolie’s “Unbroken,” and could easily contribute the same steely determination while piloting the Millennium Falcon. Previous turns in “300: Rise of an Empire” and “Skins” have only solidified Jack’s ability to navigate a whole universe of character traits, but those cheekbones speak for themselves.
Garrett Hedlund
This seasoned actor has both blockbuster charisma and dramatic heft down pat, having appeared in Disney’s big-budget “Tron” sequel and as iconic drifter Dean Moriarty in the big-screen adaptation of Jack Kerouac’s classic “On the Road.” However, it’s Garrett’s musical turns in the Coen brothers’ Oscar-nominated “Inside Llewyn Davis” and 2010’s “Country Strong” that could give his version of the Han Solo swagger some welcome harmony.

Jamie Dornan
Han Solo and Christian Grey are both men of few words, and Jamie could benefit from channeling his brooding “Fifty Shades” hunk into a more family-friendly figure. Are you curious how the Irish actor would look with shaggy hair and a vest? So are we.
Dylan O’Brien
The “Teen Wolf” and “Maze Runner” star, 23, is already no stranger to teenage fandom. His goofy and affable presence on the MTV favorite and young adult franchise could jolt this “Star Wars” with the same comic relief that made the original trilogy such a treat for fans of all ages.
Evan Peters
The “American Horror Story” alum nearly stole 2014’s “X-Men: Days of Future Past” in just one breakthrough scene, and the actor has shown no signs of slowing down since. His portrayal of fast-footed pickpocket Quicksilver in the superhero franchise could be the perfect practice to rocket his career straight through the stratosphere and into a galaxy far, far away.
Zac Efron
We’ve watched the former “High School Musical” idol grow up before our very eyes, and now the 27-year-old seems ready to graduate to more challenging roles. What better way to follow up successful comedic turns as pretty-boy buffoons in “Neighbors” and “That Awkward Moment” than by embodying one of modern cinema’s most well-known symbols of unbridled machismo?

Michiel Huisman
This Dutch-born actor already has notable turns in fan-driven series like “Game of Thrones” and “Orphan Black” under his belt, and also made his debut as a romantic lead in April’s lush “Age of Adaline.” Add that to his role as a hotshot music producer on “Nashville,” and it sounds like Michiel has hit all the right notes a potential Han Solo could need.
Miles Teller
We know, we know. The 28-year-old Miles looks nothing like Harrison Ford or the typical leading man, but the actor has proven his big-screen mettle with one acclaimed performance after another. He’s handled tender young love in “The Spectacular Now,” fierce ambition in critical darling “Whiplash” and even embarrassing masculine woes in sex comedy “That Awkward Moment.” His upcoming appearance as one of the titular “Fantastic Four” is but one more reason to consider this breakout star a real contender.
Taron Egerton
This 25-year-old Welsh cutie burst onto the scene as a brash young spy-in-training in February’s surprise hit “Kingsman: The Secret Service.” Any newcomer who can hold their own on the big screen alongside Colin Firth has a good chance of taking on a role Harrison Ford made famous. Somebody get this kid a light saber!
Nicholas Hoult
Nicholas has demonstrated perhaps the most dramatic career transition of anyone on the list, having made his big-screen debut as a shy, preteen misfit in 2002’s “About a Boy.” Since then, the British actor has dominated romantic and superhero roles alike, but threw fans and critics for a loop with an unconventionally emotional turn as a mission-driven martyr in May’s dystopian smash “Mad Max: Fury Road.” Fans have long known he’s got the looks, and now the actor has officially proven he also has the chops.
The film is set for theatrical release on May 25, 2018.
