Apple Caves To Taylor Swift: We Will Pay Artists
Behold the power of Taylor Swift!
Apple Music has changed their tune regarding paying artists during customers’ free three-month trial after the “Bad Blood” singer called them out in a lengthy Tumblr post on Sunday.
Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior VP of Internet Software and Services, took to Twitter Sunday night to respond to Taylor’s post and announce artists will be paid.
#AppleMusic will pay artist for streaming, even during customer’s free trial period

We hear you @taylorswift13 and indie artists. Love, Apple

Taylor responded to the good news on Twitter, saying she was “elated” over the policy change.
I am elated and relieved. Thank you for your words of support today. They listened to us.

Taylor’s beau, Calvin Harris, Tweeted his excitement over the singer’s feat.
I just played a gig inside a giant owl and my girl just changed the entire music industry what a day

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Taylor posted an open letter to Apple Music on her Tumblr page on Sunday, expressing her displeasure over the streaming service’s policies.
“I write this to explain why I’ll be holding back my album, 1989, from the new streaming service, Apple Music… I’m sure you are aware that Apple Music will be offering a free 3 month trial to anyone who signs up for the service. I’m not sure you know that Apple Music will not be paying writers, producers, or artists for those three months,” she wrote. “I find it to be shocking, disappointing, and completely unlike this historically progressive and generous company.”
