FKA Twigs On Robert Pattinson’s Fame: ‘It Makes You Want To Smash Your Face Into The Mirror’

FKA twigs got more than she bargained for when she began dating Robert Pattinson last September.

The couple is hounded by paparazzi and their every move is chronicled due to RPatz’s overwhelming fame – something the artist wasn’t, and still isn’t, used to.

“It’s really hard — I can’t begin to explain how awful it is,” she told the New York Times. “It makes you want to just stop everything sometimes. It makes you want to smash your face into the mirror.”

Even harder to handle than her newfound lack of privacy, are racial insults hurled at her on social media, some of which are served by fans of her fiancé.

(The 27-year-old Brit, whose real name is Tahliah Barnett, is biracial.)

“It’s relentless,” she said, adding that the notoriety she’s gained from her relationship with the actor doesn’t help her career. “There’s no amount of songs I can sing or dances I can dance that will prove to them I’m not a monkey.”

Despite the challenges, she said “it’s worth it.”

“I’m so happy,” she added.

FKA twigs and Robert got engaged in April.

They made their first joint red carpet appearance at the 2015 Met Gala in New York City.
