Nick Lachey Headed Back To MTV For New Reality Show
After the success of MTV’s “Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica,” Nick Lachey is jumping on the music/dance reality show bandwagon to develop and executive produce a second reality series with the network, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Currently in development and untitled, the show promises to be an “edgier” take on the high school musical experience. Set at Nick’s alma mater, the School for Creative and Performing Arts in Cincinnati, the show will include footage of students rehearsing on school grounds with impromptu performances set on campus.
But unlike most music and dance-themed reality shows, this series will use original music and dance, much like the reality version of “Fame” did in 2003 with boy band host Joey Fatone and Debbie Allen. However, this MTV show is less of a competition and more of a musical.
With former students Sarah Jessica Parker and Carmen Electra, the School for Creative and Performing Arts in Cincinnati might be the perfect spot to find American’s next greatest talent.
“This is a genre-busting, creative experiment I’m really excited about,” MTV executive VP of series development and programming, Tony DiSanto told The Hollywood Reporter.
