Talent Agency Splits With Mel Gibson
William Morris Endeavor Entertainment and Mel Gibson have parted ways, a rep for the star confirmed to Access Hollywood.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the agency dropped him earlier this week.
The split reportedly came around the time of the July 3 death of Ed Limato, Mel’s agent and a longtime member of the William Morris Agency. WMA merged with the Endeavor Talent Agency in 2009 – three years after Endeavor’s Ari Emanuel called for Hollywood to start “shunning Mel Gibson and refusing to work with him” in a Huffington Post editorial in 2006, after the actor made a number of anti-Semitic remarks during a DUI arrest.
On Friday, RadarOnline posted audio of a voice it reported was the actor’s, delivering an angry tirade toward a woman the site claimed was ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva that included a racial slur, though the WME split appears to have taken place before the controversial recording was made public.
A WME rep did not immediately respond to requests for comment from Access on Saturday.
